Herman Q Edeling and his journey to success

Herman Quartus Edeling was born in Johannesburg in 1980. The word “Quartus” is Latin, meaning “the fourth”. In other words, he is the 4th Herman after his great grandfather Herman “Tempe” Edeling.

Herman Q Edeling (or HQ as his friends affectionately call him) attended Grey College in Bloemfontein and St Johns College in Johannesburg. Throughout high school, he played senior provincial water polo. Matriculating in 1998, he also completed his Cambridge A-Levels in 1999.

For 3 years Herman gained work experience at Douglasdale Dairy, Computershare Services and within the restaurant, bar and club industry. In 2002 Herman moved to London where he gained experience working in various financial departments.

Upon his return to South Africa in 2004 he started working for The Edeling Medico-Legal Consultancy Trust. EMLCT provides consulting and mediation services in the medical negligence and personal injury field. Herman studied part-time and completed his B. Comm Degree in Accounting through Damelin in 2008.

A life long learner…

During his final year of studies, he founded The Viking Investment Trust which specialises in property investment. While working for these 2 companies he spent the next 3 years informally learning anything and everything he could about property, tax, business structures, trusts, estate planning, and investment. In 2012 Herman went back to part-time formal education at The University of Johannesburg where he completed an Extracurricular Certificate – Programme in Property. After that, he continued his part-time studies and completed his B. Comm Honours Degree in Property Valuation & Property Management in 2014.

During his final year at the University of Johannesburg, Herman founded Asgard Holdings which is an investment company with multiple business interests. Herman Q Edeling became a Commissioner of Oaths in 2015. Herman also became fascinated with Blockchain technology in 2015. As a crazy cryptocurrency enthusiast, he has been nicknamed “The Crypto Plunderer” and “Mr Bitcoin” by his friends.

In 2016 Herman trained through Conflict Dynamics and became an Accredited Mediator for Dispute Resolution. He is internationally accredited as a Mediator by The Centre for Effective Dispute Resolution in the United Kingdom.

Furthermore, he completed training in Skills for Medical Negligence & Personal Injury Claims in 2017. Additionally, Herman is a SAMLA Registered Medical Mediator.

As a property specialist, Herman often serves as Director for Homeowners Associations or as Trustee for Body Corporates.

In conclusion, Herman Q Edeling has earned current titles including Chief Executive Officer, Managing Director and Managing Trustee in his professional career. He is by nature an entrepreneur, investor, consultant and mediator.
